Spring has sprung, and whilst the weather becomes warmer and the day’s grow longer, many of us will be looking to clear out our homes and give our lives a bit of a refresh after a long, cold winter. Natural materials, including timber and wood, are great for giving the home a more natural feel and come with a wealth of benefits.
As we step away from the post plastic age, health and wellbeing is not just about what we put in our bodies and how much exercise we do but is also the products and materials that we surround ourselves with. Research by The Wood Window Alliance (WWA) has revealed that 49% of home-owners believe that having natural materials in the home makes them feel happier than being surrounded by artificial materials. One in three Brits also plan to bring more natural materials into the home to help improve their health and wellbeing. The presence of wood in buildings and furnishings has been proven, in a number of studies around the world*, to have positive effects on health such as lower blood pressure and stress levels, along with helping to convey feelings of energy, comfort and relaxation.
In terms of natural products, wood retains the top spot in desirability, with 67% of homeowners revealing they would like to have more timber in their homes. With wood windows perceived as the most environmentally friendly (44%), most aesthetically pleasing (44%) and providing the most character (56%), it seems that wood windows offer an ideal solution.
Choosing a product from a Wood Window Alliance member couldn’t be simpler. As well as helping to fully embrace timber in your home and making the most of your home’s period features, wood windows come with a number of benefits:
Factory-finished wood windows are easy to maintain; they only need a fresh coat of paint every 8-10 years to make them look as good as new. Or, you can redecorate them whenever you want to change your colour scheme.
All WWA members use wood from sustainably managed forests and unlike plastic or other artificial materials, timber windows aren’t exposed to harmful chemicals when being manufactured – making them both environmentally friendly and safe for your family.
All Wood Window Alliance members meet strict quality, performance and sustainability criteria – for further information visit woodwindowalliance.com to find the member for you.
