THIS GIVEAWAY HAS NOW CLOSED Set in over 90 acres of gardens and parkland, Hartwell House is an English stately home located on the edge of the Chiltern Hills in the Buckinghamshire countryside. This magnificent house has a remarkable history, with its most famous resident being the exiled King of France, Louis XVIII, who lived there from 1809 to 1813. Situated just 40 miles outside London in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the house has both Jacobean and Georgian features with beautiful decorative ceilings and panelling, and 32 bedrooms adorned with fine paintings and elegant furniture. Hartwell Court comprises 16 of these bedrooms, which were converted from an 18th century stables, coach house and indoor riding school.
Hartwell House opened as a hotel in 1989, thus entering a new phase of its long and distinguished history, and was donated to the National Trust in 2008. If you are looking to be treated like royalty, a break at this jewel of a hotel is the perfect excuse. In addition to the historic rooms and stunning gardens, Hartwell Spa is housed in a splendid building modelled on an orangery and contains a generous-sized swimming pool, spa bath, steam room, sauna and well equipped gymnasium. Experienced therapists provide a wide variety of treatments from Aromatherapy Associates to BIOEFFECT and Jessica Nails. In the gallery overlooking the swimming pool is the Hartwell Café, offering dining and drinks in a relaxed setting with a glorious sun terrace.
